PETTAH CRIME OIC REMANDED FOR ACCEPTING A BRIBE

OIC Crimes of Pettah Police and his Sergeant nabbed for taking bribes

Nowadays Police personnel taking bribes is a common story that is heard. However Police officers taking bribes attached to Crime Divisions is quite rare.  The OIC crimes of the Pettah had been caught with his Sergeant while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lack.
The OIC crimes had agreed to accept this bribe from a suspect, a resident of kirillapone, who had robbed a jewellery shop, by the officials of the bribery, Corruption Prevention Commission. He and his sergeant were nabbed by these officials at the Fort Police Station.
The OIC Crimes Aluthgedara Tikiri Bandara Wijeratna and his sergeant gad agreed to release the suspect from his offence. The bribe was to be taken promising not to take action against the suspect.
Accordingly the suspect had agreed for this proposal on last Friday. He had informed the officials of the Bribery, Corruption Prevention Commission to come to the Police Station fort at a certain time this morning to give the bribe.. When the bribe was taken the OIC Crimes of the Pettah Police and his Sergeant were caught red handed when the bribe was taken.
The OIC Crimes Aluthgedara Tikiri Bandara Wijeratna and his Sergeant Police sergeant Upul Wsantha Kumar( 49278) were arrested and produced before courts where they had been ordered to be remanded until the 30th of this month.
