MURDERED MAN FOUND INSIDE HIS VEHICLE ON MARINE DRIVE

A Chief of Shipping Company murdered inside his vehicle in the vicinity of marine drive

Yesterday afternoon at the exit of Shrubbery gardens road near Bambalapitiya marine drive. A dead person was found murdered inside his vehicle .Investigations are been carried out at the place of the incident.
The dead person is a 48 year old Vijith de Soysa is 48 years old is a General Manager of a shipping Company. He is a resident of Polhengoda area in Kirillapona. He had been at home in the morning and had brought meals by going out and had told that he would be leaving for a lecture in the afternoon. This was revealed by his wife. However he had not reached his destination. His usual practice is to call home when he reaches the lecture hall. As the call was not received his wife had made a number of calls to locate him. She had failed in her efforts.
However the Police were able to locate his whereabouts and had informed her. The murder had taken place between 1- 2 9 pm on Sunday afternoon. The murdered body was found inside his new car a ‘Viva Elite’ on the turn to Shrubbery Gardens Road near Bambalpitiya junction along Marine Drive. The rear dual yellow signal lights had e blinking for a long time which had shown signs of danger.
His murder had taken place by cutting his neck with a sharp knife. His body was lying horizontal in a pool of blood as the seat had been lowered. Investigations had revealed a person who had been walking hurriedly had been caught in suspicion. Initially he was not found to be a suspect. However when the fingerprints found in the front seat area were checked there is suspicion that he could be a suspect. It is learnt that the suspect may have tried to steal the vehicle and had got into the vehicle.
The dead person’s wife had told that her husband had no enemies. The Bambalapitiya Police is conducting investigations.
