Ghosts after prison rebellion :
Late Thushara who passed away from the revolt at Welikada had asked for fire to light his cigarette from a jailor
A number of inmates have passed away from the recent riots at Welikada prison. Many incidents of their ghosts haunting the prison premises are reported from Welikada. A huge uproar as to whether these are rumours or mental disorders that had begun.
One such story is about late Thushara who has asked for fire to light a cigarette from a jailor. It was reported that the jailor has run away in fear after facing this incident. The other story is reported from the inmates who have seen their dead friends’ (prison inmates) with headless bodies walking around. This has been reported from the cells where the inmates who have been imprisoned for life has been staying and it had been reported in the night.
It is also reported that moaning and screams are still heard from the places where 11 inmates have been killed. It is reported that inmates and the prison officers who come on night shift are scared to discharge their duties. Prison officers have been reluctant to take up duties in the night after these incidents.
This news has reached the relevant authorities and they have promised to hold a religious ritual (pirith) ceremony soon.
Rumy Rubin, the psychiatrist of Galle Karapitiya Hospital has stated to the media that the reason behind most of these problems related to ghosts and phobias are due to mental problems He has scientifically explained that inmates are undergoing Post Traumatic Stress and depression after the riot and that they are experiencing hallucinations and delusions together. He has further stated that they will disappear along with time.
Even though this news is reported from the prison, none of the authorities have mentioned anything of this sort to the media.
