FIVE RUPEE COIN ISSUE IN HORANA

An acute shortage of five rupee coins as they have been deployed to manufacture necklaces

 If one could make use of a five rupee coin to gain a larger margin of profit,  no one would certainly not hesitate to it.
In Horana and Ingiriya areas this scarcity has been seen and reported. Commencement of an industry using the five rupee coins has been the cause for this. The raw materials used for the manufacture industry are the five rupee coins and other brass items. After boiling together these more valuable necklaces and chains are manufactured. The product thus manufactured like gold necklaces and chains are sold for five or more times more than their value.  This exercise is carried out by a certain group of businessman.
However owing to this industry those victimised are some businessman who are devoid of five rupee coins which are needed for their day to day commercial transactions, it is reported.
