WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO QUINTUPLETS IN KANDY

Quintuplets in Kandy born to a woman in Kegalle:

It is the second occasion in Sri Lanka. The Gynecologist was same, Professor Gunawardena:
A special birth was reported from Kandy Teaching Hospital today around 4 a.m. That was the birth of quintuplets by a woman from Hettimulla, in Kegalle. It had been two boys and three girls who had been born prematurely by a cesarean operation when they were only eight months in the womb. The father, Shilantha Wijepala is said to be a Executive officer in a the Mercantile sector. The mother, Dilini Rasangi Shyamini is 29 years old and this had been her first child birth.
Kamal Gunawardana had been the Gynecologist surgeon who had performed the operation via a caesarian operation and it is reported that all the five babies are healthy.
This has been the second quintuplets’ birth in Sri Lanka. The first was reported from a wife of Presidential Security Officer and that caesarian operation too had been performed by Prof. Gunawardana.
The babies have been kept in incubators at the ICU in the Teaching Hospital as they were slightly still born.
