SRI LANKAN DANCERS MISSING IN KOREA

SIX ‘Kandyan’ dancers have escaped from a hotel in Korea
UTTER CHAOS !

It is reported that 6 Kandyan dancers who have gone to South Korea for a dancing concert had been missing from the hotel. A group of 10 dancers from Kandy have been selected and sent to South Korea for a concert. It is suspected that they have run in search of jobs. At the same time, due to this incident our dancing team had not been able to perform in the final round which had brought a great shame on our country.
This had been organized according on an agreement between Kandy Town Council and Korean Sejon city to introduce Sri Lankan dancing tradition to Korea. With the intention of introducing these items a group of 15 people including 10 dancers and five members of the Pradeshiya Sabha had flown to Korea on the 30th of last month.
It was reported that around 24 countries participated in this concert. In the first round, our team had performed one item and by the time they have been supposed to perform the other item, it had been found out that 6 dancers were missing from original the group that went. Out of those 6 dancers, two have been women and the other four have been men.
The Pradeshiya Sabha members and the dancing coach had made a complaint in a Korean Police station about the missing dancers. Afterwards, the Police had given extra security to the hotel where had stayed and thus the team had not been able to perform their dancing item as the rest of the team had been missing. A complaint had been made in Kandy police station regarding the people who are missing and it had been noted that the agreement between the two countries had deteriorated due to this incident and a terrific disgrace had fallen upon Sri Lanka.
It is suspected that they would have pre planned this escape as taking valid visas to Korea is very difficult and they would have done this with the prime intention of finding employment opportunities by betraying the country.
