Vendol Organization had organized an awards ceremony named “Punya Matha” to pay respect to the elders on the Poya day. Mother of persons who have contributed to the country in various fields were given awards,  paid due respect, appreciated and given gifts by the M/s Vendol Organization. Charlotte Weeratunga Arachchi, the mother of one of late spiritual orator, Ven. Gangodawila Soma Thera too was awarded for the contribution made towards the country, particularly to the sasana by her son. Before receiving the award she reminded of her late son as below:
“My son was very good. I could give birth to a son who carried Buddhism to the world. We were very concerned about him. We, as parents used to cry when he got sick.”
