SEASON 2 SIRASA ‘KUMARIYA’ PAWANI MADHUSHANI SPEAKS

Last Saturday in the Sirasa Kumariya season 2 Contest, Pawani Madhushani Wikesinghe was crowned as the Sirasa kumariya. She is by profession a fashion designer and was chosen as the winner out of the final 12, where initially many competitors took part.
She hopes to commence a career in acting soon. The excerpts from an interview she has had with the ‘Sarasaviya’ newspaper is appended below:

Q: Pawani, your full name?
A: “Pawani Madhushani Wijesinghe”
Q: School?
A: “I went to two schools. They are Sangamitta Balika and Ananda Balika”
Q: Residence?
A: “Born in Colombo, but now lives in kiribathgoda.”
Q: Date of birth?
A; “17th October 1987”
Q: Height?
A: “5 feet 3 inches”
Q: Position of planet?
A: “ Kumba”.
Q: Boy friend?
A:. There was one earlier, but not now”.
Q: During the competition you have got a lot of proposals?
A: “About two to three”.
Q: If you describe yourself?
A: “A good hearted person”.
Q:.Those who helped you?
A:  “Susara Dinal and the Sirasa staff.”
Q: Have you participated in a competition like this before?
A: “Yes. That was during school days. After completing my school education I studied to become a fashion designer. Then only I applied for ‘Sirasa Kumariya’. Then I stopped my profession temporarily.”
Q: Actually can you act?
A: “Yes. I think so. But I must do some self exercises on acting”
Q We had heard that now itself you have got invitations to act?
A” Yes. So many directors have spoken to me”
Q: Has the Sirasa media given you permission to act?
A: I think I can make them aware and obtain permission”
Q: What were the real requirements you needed to become the “Sirasa Kumariya”? There were more beautiful girls in the final 12 contestants?
A:” It is not only for the beauty, marks are given. One needs to be  a team person, needs to have leadership qualities and perhaps possess extracurricular activities and knowledge in other performing fields. For those they give marks. I think because of these qualities I may have got higher marks. That’s how I won the contest”
