DISGRACE UPON LATE TELE DRAMA DIRECTOR

Dishonor to the late tele drama director by the so called senior artists
The world of artists was shaken by the news of the sudden death of Nalaka Wedamulla who had been a tele drama director.

He had faced a fatal accident near Navinna Arpico Super Center along high level road on his way from the final shooting of the Tele drama “Itimal”. It has been reported that his family members have been extremely worried and upset after an event that took place after his death.
At the point of his death, the artists had decided to keep his dead body at Art Gallery and they have published about it through media as well. But later on, some senior artists who also work as politicians had refused it. Finally the funeral had taken place at Unawatuna in Galle.
His family had been very disappointed at that incident and they have stated that it had been such a disgrace upon late tele drama director. Palitha Wedamulla, the brother of late, Palitha Wedamulla in an interview to Maubima, had stated as below:

“We didn’t make a request to keep the body at the Art Gallery. We wanted to take the body to Galle as soon as possible.
But artists including Roger Seneviratne made a request at Kalubowila hospital to take the body to the Arts Gallery. He said that it would be an honor to him and that the other artists can show their respect. They have set the dates and said that the body can be kept until 3 o’ clock. Accordingly, media too published the news. Other necessary arrangements too were made.
Later on, we got to know that artists who call themselves senior had disagreed and they have refused to let my brother’s dead body be kept there. That was such a disgrace on my brother and we were really uncomfortable having to face that.
Some have disagreed saying that my brother had not been an award winning artist. At the same time they have not allowed others to come to pay last respects to him to Galle.”
