BABY RHINO DIES AT DEHIWALA ZOO

After waiting for one and a half years pregnant the baby elephant dies on the day of birth:

The death is owing to the negligence of the authorities of the Dehiwala Zoo as the Mother Rhino and Baby Rhino were cramped up for room:
After been pregnant for 1 ½ years last Sunday morning the female Rhino delivered the baby Rhino at the Dehiwala Zoo. But very unfortunately the baby Rhino had died on the same day owing to the negligence of the authorities of the Dehiwala Zoo as they were both confined to a very small cage.
The mother Rhino is over a tone in weight, unknowingly had trampled the baby rhino on the same day of birth and had died. However the Veterinary Surgeon who examined the mother Rhino and the baby Rhino had confirmed that both had been in very good heath after they were born. However no one could advice with regard to the space in which they had to live was barely sufficient.
This had been a rare experience for the mother Rhino. The baby Rhino had only lived for only a few hours. The baby Rhino had been trampled to death cramping for room. Nobody is taking responsibility for this lapse. In the Dehiwala Zoo there is only a couple of Rhino’s, Asoka and Anula. In the year 2007 they were exchanged with Japan for a couple of our elephants. They were the black type of species from Africa. It is reliably learnt that there are only 4240 Rhinos in the whole world.
It is reported that a baby Rhino is born very rarely. They are preserved very carefully as unauthorised persons want to kill this species to obtain medicine and sell the tusks. The pregnancy period of a female Rhino is 1 ½ years. This couple, Asoka and Anula Rhinos are 13 and 11 years old. It is sad to hear that the previous baby Rhino that was born too had died.
For these Rhinoceroses to live it has been reported that worth had been under way to have a complex like park place was to be built at a cost of Rs 17 million at the Dehiwala Zoological gardens. in spite, it is surprising that this baby Rhino could not be saved.
