Wickramabahu on stage with Karunaniddhi’s Eelam conference:
Yesterday at Chennai, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu presided at the conference of the Tamil Eelam Supporter’s Organisation (TESO).At this meeting the Leader of the New Samasamaja Party, Wickrambahu Karunaratna also participated on an invitation. The speciality in his participation is that he stood by the Tamils in their struggle for a separate state, Eelam.
Although initially there was a court order in prohibiting having this meeting, re considering the objection permission was granted to hold this meeting as scheduled. It was held at the Royapetahi young Christian Society grounds in Chennai.
At this meeting it was discussed that Sri Lanka were blamed for the treatment meted out to Tamils at the Human Rights Commission sessions held in Geneva recently, for violation of Human Rights. It was spoken that the Sinhalese based administration is very disadvantageous to the Tamil speaking people. What Karunaniddhi stressed was what Sri Lankan government would give sufficient redress to the Tamils, was the picture given to the Indian government. The assurance had not been implemented accordingly.
Wickrambahu Karunaratna agreed with what former Minister of Tamil Nadu, karunaniddhi confessed. For Wickramabahu Karunaratne’s participation at the LTTE summit in London, he revealed that plans had been made by anti LTTE supporters to attack him at the London airport was revealed by him. He had confessed that he had attended this meeting against such threats. For this visit there had been some problems he had to face when obtaining his visa. The visa was granted after sorting out some issues.
For this Eelam conference although the TNA party and Mano Ganeshan were also invited they had declined the invitation.
