SHIP SINKS IN PANADURA

A Cyprus ship anchored in the Panadura Sea from 2009:

A Cyprus ship, in on the verge of sinking off the shores of Panadura seas. The rear part of the ship had almost sunk when observed last morning. Owing to some conflict with regard to the transportation of some machinery, the ship had been anchored in the sea following a court order from the year 2009.

The ship is reported to be 155 and 127 metres in length and breadth. According to reports from the Navy the ship may have sunk owing to the oil within the oil tank about 70-80 tonnes becoming solid and thereby making the rear part heavy. The Marine Environmental Protection Authority with the Navy and the Disaster Management Authority are making efforts to minimise the sea been polluted. The front part is on the verge of sinking.
