GOVERNMENT OFFICER’S “SEIRI” THEORY

The government officer who used “Seiri” theory of Five S to take government equipment home:

5 S’s was a popular way of management which was introduced to us by the Japanese. Many people say that it is way we can use to stay clean and neat.
It was reported recently how a government officer used 5 S’s theory to take office equipment home in the disguise of cleaning the office. He had been a shrewd officer who has used that technique for his benefit.
5 S’s are as follow:
Seiri - Seiton - Seimeso - Seikethsu - Shithsuke
These should be followed one after the other. First, according to “Seiri”, unwanted stuff should be taken away and be disposed in an environmental friendly manner.
He who have been working in a project office which is under the Cultural Department in Anuradhapaura had held a meeting to announce his staff that “We need to throw away unnecessary stuff from the office” and thus he had listed things that have been there for about 20 years. The list had included many equipments and a number of valuable furniture.
Seeing that there is expensive furniture and steel cupboards, the staff members have inquired as to why they are being thrown away. In reply, the officer had said that
“These take a lot of space and the place becomes very stuffy, we’ll never be able to tidy up the place until these are thrown away.”

He had sent a tractor with the furniture out of the office boundaries saying that they will be sent to the institute’s store which is situated on the other end of the office. In between, he had secretively given orders to the tractor driver to deliver the steel and the teak cupboards to his home. The driver has done accordingly as he had been instructed.
Rumours have spread slowly among the staff members and they have taken actions to report his action to higher officials.
It is reported that the rumour had spread all over and actions towards that officer will be taken in the near future. However, it is also reported that particular officer is trying to hide evidence to get away from the complaint which had been made against him.
