Drunken driver responsible for three tragic deaths:
A collision of a Cab vehicle and a Lorry:
The day before yesterday night in Imbulgamuwa at Divulapitiya a head on collision had taken place between a lorry and cab vehicle. The driver of the lorry had been found to be drunk and the lorry was in the course of transporting an overload of asbestos sheets.
The driver of the lorry while in a state of drunkenness and driven the lorry on the other lane when a cab vehicle with some passengers were travelling. On noticing the lorry coming to collide with the cab vehicle, the driver had made valiant efforts to avoid the collision. But his efforts had proved futile. Three passengers in the cab vehicle had succumbed to death on the spot.
The driver of the lorry has been arrested by the Police and is in custody.
