SLPL which was to be held on the 10th of August had undergone a number of changes. The captainships had been changed and the Mascot’s name which was ‘Fun lion” had been changed to

It is reported that the captainship of the team “North Rudhras” which was given to Muralidharan had been changed as he has rejected it and it had been given to Jehan Mubarak.
It is also reported that the captainship of the team “Uva Nexts” which was given to Chris Gale is to be changed and is decided to be given to one of the players: Upul Tharanga, Dilhara Fernando, Thilina Kandambi or to Sachithra Senanayake.
Thilakaratne Dilshan had been appointed as the captain of Western Province, Angelo Mathews had been appointed as the captain of Eastern province, Lasith Malinga had been appointed as the captain of Ruhunu Province and Mahela had been appointed as the captain of Wyamba Province. Even though Sangakkara had been appointed as the captain of Kandurata team, he had been asked to rest for about 6 weeks after the injury he went through during the 3rd ODI on Saturday . Thus, non-official news reports that he will not be able to take part in SLPL and the captainship of Kandurata will be given to Sanath Jayasuriya or to Thisara Perera.
The name of the mascot of the league which was confirmed and decided as “Fun Lion” and now it had been changed to “Silva”.
This Sri Lanka Premier league is to be telecasted all around the world through ESPN and ESPN Star Sports Channels. It will be telecast in Sri Lanka through the CSN channel.
It is reported that all the rumours which said that the league will not be held as the owners of the teams had wanted to quit it have been proved to be false. The league will be held at the R Premadasa International Stadium grounds after the opening ceremony which will be held on the 10th of August.
