SCHOOL BOY HAD BEEN PUNISHED FOR SPORTING A SPIKY HAIR STYLE

The female teacher in charge of the class had given him a thundering slap on the ear which had damaged his ear drum:

It has now become a practice among the younger generation including school boys to change their hair styles according to the wish of the respective individuals. It is reported from a school in Mahawa area that a 17 year old student by name Gamini Lakmal studying in year 13th class had changed his hair style where the hair is directed upwards and it is a popular ‘spiky’ hair style rather unusual for a student.
The class teacher is a lady and he had objected to his hair style. The student had quipped” I could change my hair style to any manner I like and nobody could object to my preference”.
The lady teacher had got worked up and annoyed over his comments and had given a thundering slap to his ear. The boy had fallen on to ground and as he had probably been injured severely with the help of other teachers they had admitted to Abampola District Hospital. The doctors who treated him had found to be injury to be of a serious nature and decided to transfer him to the Kurunegala Hospital where the student is still undergoing treatment.
