SLPL Organisers display the correct logos replacing the fake logos:The official launch of the SLC’s inaugural SLPL T /20 cricket tournament which is scheduled to commence on the 10th August was officially launched last evening at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.
Until yesterday the different media’s had made various types of logos and were published in various newspapers and other media. The correct logos were launched and displayed at the launching ceremony.
Also the names of the provinces from which the teams were originally were also changed to some extent. The real names of the seven teams that are to participate are: ‘Basnahira Cricket Dundi’.’Kandurata Warriors’, ‘Ruhunu Royals’, ‘North Rudras’,’Negenahira Nagas’,’Uva next’ and ‘Wyamba United’.
The captains would be as follows;
- Basnahira Cricket Dundi: Tillekeratna Dilshan
- Kandurata Warriors: Kumar Sangakkara
- Ruhunu Royals: Lasith Malinga
- Negenahira Nagas: Angelo Mathews
- Uthura Rudras: Muttiah Muralidharan
- Uva Next: Chris Gale
- Wyamba United: Mahela Jayawardena.
All arrangements are now finalised to for the inaugural SLPL T/20 cricket tournament scheduled to be held between the 11th and 31st of August. All matches have been scheduled to be played at the R.Premadasa International cricket stadium in Colombo and the Pallekelle International cricket stadium in Kandy’
It has not been yet decided who is getting the television rights to telecast these matches. It is still under discussion between higher officials.
