RANIL SPEAKS ABOUT RAPE INCIDENTS

In the good old days anyone could travel from Point Pedro to Devundara point without any fear and devoid of any harm:

Yesterday the Leader of the Opposition Ranil Wickremasinghe paid a visit to ‘Delkanda Pola’, and distributed some leaflets emphasising the manner young girls are raped in today’s context.

“Because of child raping heard in every nook and corner of the island the parents need the assistance of ‘Kattadiyas’ and ‘Kapuwas’ to have them protected. Today young girls cannot walk on the roads freely as they are more often than not are subjected to rape. From the ancient times any young girl could go from Point Pedro to Devinuwara without the slightest fear. All of them are now feared to go this distance. Because of the prevailing ‘Raja’ Government, girls are feared even to travel alone even half a mile as it is dangerous in every respect.
