Hirunika is accused in defaming courts by breaking coconuts in the court premises seeking justice from ‘Gods’ above.
All could remember the breaking of coconuts in front of the court premises by a group led by HIRUNIKA Premachndra seeking redress from the ‘Gods’ above in the slain case of her father Baratha Lakshman Premachandra. According to her and her supporters justice had not been meted out in respect of accused Duminda Silva.
Because of this incident HIRUNIKA had been blamed and accused by bringing disrepute to courts. Her intention in breaking coconuts in the court premises was to get redress from ‘Gods’ above by breaking coconuts as it was the only alternative to injustice.
In this connection the President’s council Hemantha Warnakulasuriya that she would have to face consequences and a case would be filed against her for defaming courts. This was disclosed by the President’s council when the case against slain Baratha Lakshman Premachandra along with the killings of four others was taken up for hearing.
The President’s council Hemantha Warnakulasuriya appearing for Duminda Silva had informed the additional Magistrate Prasanna Alwis in this regard. The senior lawyer appearing for slain Baratha and four others Tirantha Weraliyadde had disclosed that in such an event he would take this matter internationally.
In retaliation the additional magistrate Prasanna Alwis had said that he is not scared of these proposed actions. When questioned about arresting the suspect Duminda Silva, the Additional Magistrate stated that a warrant had already been issued and it is not necessary to issue a further warrant. It as said that the courts is helpless in this instance about his arrest a warrant had been already issued. The case was postponed for hearing again on the 5th of June.
