The biggest bulk of tusks caught by the customs office

600 tusks wrapped up in recycling papers have been nabbed at Orugodawatta

Customs office has been able to catch a container full of 600 tusks wrapped up in recycling papers at Orugodawatta in the port. The plan has been to send them to Dubai from Kenya via Sri Lanka.
The value of this bulk of tusks has not yet been accounted.
It was reported that these tusks were packed up in recycling papers along with sprats in such way that it would not be suspected.
Customs Intelligent services has pointed out that an international racket must be behind this.
It is reported that this is the biggest bulk of tusks seized by the customs office. According to the customs Act, they have the authority to check all the goods that are transported to Sri Lanka as well as the goods that are transported via Sri Lanka. Out of the three containers checked by the customs office, this bulk of tusks have been found in the second container and they were to check the other container as well.
Customs officers are conducting further investigations on these containers.
