The other day the abducted Kumar Gunaratnam took wing to Australia. With the protection of the Australian Embassy authorities and our Police he was escorted to the airport, as he was a permanent citizen of Australia.He had revealed that if the Australian Embassy authorities did not intervene he may have even lost his life.
The leader of the Progressive Socialist Party on his arrival at Australia had disclosed to an Australian newspaper, ’The Sydney morning Herald’ the sequence of events that took place after his abduction including sexual harassment.
“He had said on the day of the abduction I felt that a about 15-20 persons had guarded the house he was kept in Kiribathgoda. When I heard noises I went to the first floor and peeped through a window, there were 15-20 persons armed with guns, pistols and rifles around the house. Suddenly one of them with a gun jumped into my room and asked me to surrender. They were talking to each other and some were addressed as ‘Sir’. I knew very well that they were from the Army. They tied my hands and closed my eyes and harassed me. It is difficult to describe the episode. They even made sexual harassments to me. When I was under their custody I was helpless as my arms were tied and eyes closed.”
