A Vishakian had escaped from the kidnappers
A grade 6 student of Bambalapitiya Vishaka Vidyalaya had been kidnapped by an unknown gang while she was walking home and she had escaped due to her gumption.
According to what is been reported, the story is as follow:
The student had been a resident at Narahenpitiya and she had been going to school by school van. Even though she had been walking up to the van accompanied by her friends, due to term tests school had been closed early and she had been walking alone towards the school van.
There had been a van which had been parked across the road and it had become a barrier for her to walk straight towards her school van. As she had stated someone had pulled her inside the van with her bag. She had been dragged inside from the middle door and she had been forced to sit between two people. She had stated that there had been 4 people in the van and that all of them were wearing caps.
While she had hid her head in her bag out of fear, one person had removed her earrings and the van had gone fast towards the Thunmulla junction and then it had turned towards RA De Mel Road. In between, one person had told that they have used the wrong road and the van had been stopped near colour lights. At that time she had noticed that the door have not been locked and thus she had leaped towards the door, opened it and had escaped. They have not been able to stop her and they haven’t made any attempt to follow her either.
The girl who had got frightened after this case had gone to a nearby house and later she had gone back to the school and explained what happened to the police. She had stated that a workshop carried out by the Child Protection Authority had taught them how to escape from such kidnapping gangs and that it had helped her to escape.
The police stated that the student saved her life since she knew how to act accordingly and sine she used her gumption. Bambalapitiya police are carrying out further investigations about this case.
