From creative skills of a 30 year entrepreneur makes “Ganja” chocolate in the shrewdest manner:
It has now become a new pattern in Sri Lanka to produce consumer products with innovative methods.”Ganja” had been produced in the form of chocolate square pieces using a rare type of technology. The main ingredient of making ‘Ganja’ is via the manner with the usage of ‘Ganja’ leaves.
The entrepreneur had used a “Mortar” ( vangediya) and a blender (mirisgala), the one that is used in any Sri Lankan kitchen to grind chillies etc, The ‘Ganja’ leaves had been crushed and blended and had made into squares to resemble pieces of chocolates. This is the first instant that ‘Ganja’ dealers had made ‘Ganja’in the form of chocolates.
The incident had taken place at Ingiriya when a three wheeler driver who was carrying the ‘Ganja’ in the form of chocolate squares was stopped at Police road block in the Handapangoda area in Ingiriya. A woman passenger who was supposed to be the three wheeler driver’s mother had travelled in the rear seat to have any doubt cleared as she was like travelling on a three wheeler hire. When the driver was searched he was found to have in his possession hidden in his waist the ‘Ganja’ in the form of chocolates in square type which was each in 3.6 inches squares.
When investigations were carried out it was revealed that out of 3.5 kg of ‘Ganja’ leaves 500 grams of ‘Ganja’ could be manufactured through crushing and blending. The driver was a 30 year old resident of Handapangoda. The driver,the accused and the three wheeler was taken in to Police custody along with the ‘Ganja’ chocolates and was produced before the Horana Magistrate, who ordered him to be remanded until the 15th of this month.
This raid had been carried out under the instructions of SSP Panadura Police division H.M.Dharnasena, ASP of Horana division, Saman Ratnayake and the OIC of Ingiriya Police station, Udaya Kumara.
