DICKWELLA RAPE CASE

A beautiful German girl was tried to be raped by an unknown person while sleeping with her boy friend in the wee hours of the 6th.The youngster who tried to rape had run away nude, leaving his clothes.

At a vital time that the Government is trying to uplift the image of the tourist industry owing to certain unwarranted incidents have defamed the image of the tourist Industry in Sri Lanka. The good image whichhas to be created is been turned upside down owing to very unpleasant incidents that are been done to tourists.it is not long ago that an incident happened in a Hotel in Tangalle when a Russian girl who was trying to be raped ended in the loss of her British boyfriend when he succumbed to gunshot injuries when he tried to intervene.
After this incident several tourists who had come on holiday left Sri Lanka .The latest report is from a tourist hotel in Dickwella in Matara District which had occurred in the wee hours of the Monday the 6th The beautiful German girl had been consuming liquor with her boy friend in this hotel until about 2,30 a.m in the morning and had gone to sleep completely drunk. Around 3 a.m they were fast asleep when the girl had woken up when an unidentified youngster unknown had tried to rape her. She had initially thought it was her boy friend. When she knew that he was not the boy friend she had made loud screams. The youngster had fled nude leaving his clothes.
The matter was reported to the Dicwella Police. Although they had carried out investigations until yesterday evening they have failed in their attempt to apprehend the culprit.
After the Tangalle incident many tourists through sheer frustration left the country abandoning their intended holidays. When this incident is also heard by those already here and those who intend coming to Sri Lanka for a holiday are also sure to get frustrated and would think twice ruining our tourist inflow and the Industry as a whole tarnishing our image of the Tourist industry.
