MALINGA’S 3 rd HAT-TRICK

Malinga creates a World record by taking his 3rd Hat-Trick
At  yesterday’s final 5th ODI match played at the R.Premadasa International Cricket Stadium between Sri Lanka and Australia, Lasith Malinga created a new world record by claiming his 3rd Hat-Trick, a feat no other bowler had achieved In the history of World cricket. Only 26 bowlers have achieved Hat-Tricks .Among them only 4 bowlers including Malinga had taken 2 Hat-Tricks each. They are Wasim Akram ,Saqlain Mushtaq and our own Chaminda Vaas. Apart from Malinga the rest have now retired from playing International cricket.
  In World cricket Malinga is the only bowler who has gone beyond the Hat-Trick by claiming 4 wickets in 4 balls.
Lasith Malinga took his first Hat-Trick against South Africa in a World cup match in 2007.The 2nd hat-Trick was taken against Kenya in Colombo earlier this year. The 3rd Hat-Trick was taken against Australia yesterday. His first victim was Johnson who was clean bowled. The second victim was Hastings. Who was ruled ‘Leg before wicket’ and the 3rd was that of Doherty who was also’ clean bowled’.
