EXTERNAL DEGREE GRADUATES ARE A WRETCHED LOT.
THEY ARE A BURDEN LOT TO THE COUNTRY-SB

At a function held in Kandy yesterday, the Higher Education Minister S.B.Dissanayake said some drastic remarks about External Graduates in the following manner:
Those who pass out of the University should be the “cream of the cream”. The producing of unsuccessful wretched graduates should be halted. The external graduates are a real burden to their families; country and their origin native village’s .There are certain senior lectures entrusted to scrutinise question papers amounting to 8000 to 9000 for a week.
When they apply for jobs it had revealed that they do not possess GCE (Ordinary Level) although they have obtained External Degrees. How a job could be offered for those devoid of an ordinary pass in Mathematics? Our aim is to produce competent graduates who would not be standing idling on streets.
