A world record is crested by sharing a beauty queen contest between two contestants, the ultimate Winner and Runner –up:

Yesterday the ‘Gossiplankanews’ web site reported that the Vinu Siriwardena was crowned as Miss Sri Lanka 2012.However like in an election result re -count the result has been very surprisingly changed after scrutinising the marks of the Panel of Judges, who adjudicated. The result has now been turned upside down.
The finals of this glittering contest, was held on the 31st of last month held at the ‘DERANA’ MISS VEET contest where Vinu Siriwardena was crowned as the Miss Sri Lanka 2012.

For the first time in the world two contestants of a beauty pageant have been named as joint winners. it is reliably reported that owing to a miscalculation of points given by the Panel of Judges, the final decision had to be revoked and both the declared Winner and the Runner-up were declared as joint winners and both crowned as Joint winners of the Miss Sri Lanka 2012.
However owing to several protests from several sources, this decision had to be changed, by the Panel of Judges and the related organisers. This was owing to the fact that they had admitted that there had been some mistakes when points were once more closely scrutinized. It was proved that definite fault was proved when issuing of marks. There had been some mistakes when adding of points was made.

When the final marks were recounted it had revealed that the runner up had scored more marks and that she should be declared the winner. The initial runner- up Sumudu Prasadini. However after consultation with the two contestants it was decided that both would be declared as joint winners. But for the Miss World contest it would be Sumudu who would be participating and not Vinu.

It is learnt that both were declared joint winners by the Panel of Judges and the organising committee when they met yesterday (4th).

The finals of this glittering event was held last Saturday and it was to be telecast today the Thursday the 5th.However as a result of this huge uproar the finals were held over again at the Galle Face hotel yesterday. The crown at this finals was won by Sumudu.

The real story behind this is that certain interested quarters in the field had brought in pressure, which had made this final to be held once more to clear all doubts. No one could ever think that such a massive mega event organised after so much of hard work put in organising such an event had to meet with such consequences and culminate in such an unfortunate fashion.

Vinu Siriwardena who was declared the initial winner had sent in her application for the 2011 Miss Sri lanka contest. She was not allowed by her authorities of her school Anula Vidyalaya as she had not completed studies and left school. However she had applied for this year’s 2012 Miss Sri Lanka contest after completing her Advanced level examination and had participated in the gruelling contest.

The runner-up Sumudu Prasadini it is learnt from reliable sources that had een predicted by many over a month ago as the one who will crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2012.She hails from Dodangaslanda area in the Kurunegala district ,by profession is a modeller and had participated in the Miss Sri Lanka contest in the year 2010.

However ultimately it was Sumudu Prasadini who was crowned as Miss Sri Lanka 2012.It is the fervent hope of all interested in this event that this type of confusion would never ever be repeated in the future, considering the importance and magnitude of this annual event. This would be happy news as the future competitors as a similar situation is not bound to happen as it would be done very carefully, with lessons learnt from this contest.
