NEW SLPL CRICKET COMPETITION SIMILAR TO IPL IN INDIA WITH SEVEN TEAMS IS DUE TO COMMENCE AT THE END OF JULY.THE NAMES OFTHREE PARTICIPATING TEAMS ARE APPENDED BELOW:
RUHUNU RHINOS, BASNAHIRA BEARS and KANDURATA KITES.
From over a century ago cricket was played between two countries having TEST status. The advent of T/20 cricket has now aroused a lot of interest having revolutionariesed the game as the shortest version and it has come to stay with the popular IPL cricket in India. Presently having successfully completed the IPL 1 and IPL 2 is proceeding successfully with IPL 3 with is currently being played, with 10 participating teams. The players have been auctioned from an equal number of different Franchises.
Sri Lanka is due to commence a similar tournament in late July this year naming it as ‘Sri Lanka Premier League’ The seven teams to be named are as Ruhunu Rhinos, Basnahira Bears,Uva Unicorns, Wayamba Wolves, Kandurata Kites, Uthuru Oryxes and Negenahira Nagas.
Sri Lanka is due to commence the tournament in late July this year named as ‘SLPL’. All matches are to be played at the R Premadasa International cricket stadium and it’s duration is 18 days. SLPL is to be organised by ‘SOMERSET VENTURES COMPANY ‘.The names of captains have been already being named and they are as follows:
- Ruhunu Rhinos-Sanath Jayasuriya,
- Basnahira Bears-T.M.Dilshan,
- Kandurata Kites-Kumar Sangakkara,
- Uva Unicons-Chaminda Vaas,
- Wyamba Wolves-Mahela Jayawardena,
- Uthuru Oryxes-Daniel Vettori,
- Negenahiri Nagas-Shahid Afridi
