The court has decided to implement strict legal measures regarding the protest held at the Viharamahadevi Park premises, demanding the release of Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero, the General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena organization, who is currently serving a prison sentence. Accordingly, Colombo Additional Magistrate Lahiru Silva ordered the Kurunduwatta Police to immediately arrest the suspects who used loudspeakers without a legal license during the said protest.

This order was issued yesterday after facts were reported to the court, following a complaint made by Kurunduwatta Police OIC, Chief Police Inspector Sagara Dayaratne.

Officers of the Kurunduwatta Police, who appeared in court on behalf of the complaint, pointed out that the monks and civil activists staying at Viharamahadevi Park are continuously engaged in protests, even disregarding court orders. Furthermore, the police emphasized before the court that they had also used loudspeakers without any legal permission or license.

Police officers informed the court that investigations related to the incident have already commenced.

The Additional Magistrate, having considered all the facts presented, ordered the police to apprehend the suspects who used loudspeakers without a license, and further ordered the Kurunduwatta Police to promptly report the progress of the relevant investigations to the court.
