With the sudden power outage across the island, water purification activities at the Ambatale and Biyagama water treatment plants have currently come to a halt. This situation is not merely limited to a power cut but has become a condition that can directly and severely impact the daily water needs of the public.

The Chairman of the National Water Supply and Drainage Board commented on this matter, stating that the operations of the relevant treatment plants have been disrupted due to the nationwide power outage.

Due to the lack of electricity, there is a risk of further disruptions to future operations of the water supply network. Therefore, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board requests the entire public to use the available water as sparingly as possible until the situation normalizes and operations are restored.
