Operations to restore the island-wide power supply, which had completely shut down, have now been successful. As officially confirmed by Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake, the functionality of the national electricity transmission system has now been fully restored to one hundred percent.

Additionally, 80 percent of the entire electricity distribution network has also been activated and is now functioning normally.

The rapid intervention and diligent work of the technical and engineering teams of the Ceylon Electricity Board in the face of this sudden and massive energy crisis directly contributed to this swift restoration process. This sudden power outage severely impacted the manufacturing sector of the local economy, service-providing institutions, and the daily lives of ordinary citizens. Therefore, the gradual restoration of the energy supply in this manner is considered a significant national milestone.

Currently, the Ministry's special attention is focused on ensuring continuous electricity supply to major cities and industrial zones. Concurrently, the necessary technical operations are continuously underway to swiftly activate the remaining 20 percent of the distribution network that has not yet been restored.

This incident has clearly highlighted the urgent need to further enhance institutional efficiency in facing such critical situations to ensure national energy security. The Ministry of Energy and the Ceylon Electricity Board are well-prepared to maintain the electricity system continuously without any interruptions in the coming days. A stable mechanism to minimize such sudden breakdowns in the future is currently being developed, and it is believed that with the restoration of energy supply, there will be a strong inclination to steadily move the country's economy and public life forward without any hesitation.
