Venerable Balangoda Kassapa Thero, who was hospitalized after an unrest during a Satyagraha held at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, requesting the release of Venerable Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thero, has left the hospital, refusing to stay for further observation as advised by doctors. This was confirmed by Dr. Sampath Indika Kumara, Director of the National Hospital in Colombo.

Following the incident, Kassapa Thero arrived at the accident and emergency unit of the National Hospital for treatment around 8:30 PM that night. Doctors immediately examined him and conducted necessary X-rays, ultrasounds, and blood tests. The Director of the National Hospital stated that none of these tests confirmed any injury or defect in his body.

However, Kassapa Thero stated that he had been hit on the head. Due to this, the doctors advised him to be admitted to an emergency ward for full medical observation. But Kassapa Thero rejected this medical advice, stating that he no longer needed treatment, and left the National Hospital about an hour after arriving, around 9:30 PM.

Statement by Dr. Sampath Indika Kumara, Director of the National Hospital in Colombo,

"Venerable Balangoda Kassapa Thero, who arrived at the accident and emergency unit of the Sri Lanka National Hospital for treatment around 8:30 PM today, left the hospital about an hour later, stating that he no longer needed treatment. The relevant doctors examined him regarding the reason for his visit and conducted the necessary X-ray examinations, ultrasound examinations,

and also his blood tests, and at that time, no signs of any defect were recorded. Furthermore, because he stated that he had been hit on the head, doctors suggested that he be admitted to an emergency ward for a full examination and observation, and the need to keep him in an observation ward was communicated to him. However, it is reported that he stated he did not need those treatments and left the Sri Lanka National Hospital around 9:30 PM, about an hour later."
