The ancient 'Dangalla Walawwa' located in Wewala, Horana, is a property of historical value that has captured everyone's attention due to its unique architectural style. Recently, a group of people broke into this quiet mansion, which belongs to a well-known business family, intimidated its eighty-year-old caretaker, severely damaged the mansion's historic doors and windows, and looted many valuable items.

This group, who entered the mansion by jumping over the wall, broke down the doors and windows, which were built according to the old architectural style, during the theft. It is reported that it has even become difficult to accurately assess the financial value of the damage caused to these ancient properties.

These robbers have stolen refrigerators, television sets, air conditioners, electric kettles, mobile phones, setup boxes, shaving equipment, and even steel ladders from the mansion. The most regrettable aspect of this incident is that they attempted to sell the stolen goods for a very paltry sum. The police uncovered information when an air conditioner worth approximately three hundred thousand rupees was dismantled, and its internal parts were sold for a very small amount, such as nine thousand rupees. Other items were also found at a local pawn shop, having been given away for much less than their true value.

The owners of the mansion do not reside there permanently. Following a notification from the caretaker, they visited the property to inspect it and subsequently lodged a complaint about this massive theft with the Horana Headquarters Police.

Acting on a private tip-off regarding the incident, the police identified and arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the theft. Two of these suspects, residents of Yalagala, Thibbatugoda, and Dolahena areas, are 24 years old, while the other suspect is 25 years old.

The Horana Headquarters Police are conducting further investigations to determine if these young suspects, who are reportedly heavily addicted to drugs, have been involved in other thefts in the area previously. The arrested suspects were scheduled to be produced before the court.
