Due to the impact of the rapidly developing 'ARNAB' cyclone in the Bay of Bengal sea area, the Department of Meteorology has issued a red alert for the fishing and naval communities.
This announcement, issued today (26) at 9:30 AM, will be valid for the next 12 hours.
According to the Department of Meteorology, the deep depression that had formed in the East Central and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal sea area has now developed into the 'ARNAB' cyclone. Authorities warn that this system, expected to move west-northwestwards, is likely to further intensify into a severe cyclonic storm in the West Central Bay of Bengal by around 11:30 PM tonight.
Along with these adverse weather conditions, wind speeds in the affected sea areas may occasionally increase to between 80 and 100 kilometers per hour. Concurrently, sea waves could rise to a height of 3 to 4 meters, and the sea area will become very rough with heavy thundershowers.
Therefore, strict instructions have been given to completely refrain from engaging in fishing and naval activities in the vulnerable sea areas located between 10 and 20 degrees North latitude and 80 and 95 degrees East longitude until further notice.
The Department of Meteorology emphasizes that if there are any individuals currently engaged in fishing or naval activities in the affected sea areas, they should immediately sail to safe areas. Furthermore, continuously monitoring future weather announcements regarding this situation will contribute to the safety of all naval communities.
