The President of the Court of Appeal withdraws from Ven. Gnanasara Thero's robe case.

Justice Rohantha Abeysooriya, President of the Court of Appeal, has withdrawn from the bench hearing the petition challenging the decision taken by prison authorities to remove the robes of Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero, who is currently serving a prison sentence.

This petition was filed requesting an order to invalidate the relevant decision of the prison authorities. After the President of the Court of Appeal announced his withdrawal from the proceedings, he also took steps to appoint a new three-member bench to hear the petition.

Accordingly, a new Court of Appeal bench comprising Justices Amal Ranaraja, Mahen Gopallawa, and Priyantha Fernando has been appointed to hear these petitions.
