Authorities kindly request the public to take immediate safety measures to minimize potential dangers from lightning and strong winds. Under this, it is extremely important to avoid staying outdoors or under trees, and instead stay inside a safe building or a fully covered enclosed vehicle. Instructions have also been given to completely avoid staying in open places such as paddy fields, tea estates, sports grounds, and reservoirs during this period. Furthermore, the public has been advised to avoid using open vehicles such as bicycles, tractors, and boats.
The Department of Meteorology advises the public to avoid using corded telephones and electrical appliances connected to electricity even when staying indoors. Furthermore, due to potential strong wind conditions, trees and power lines may fall, so it is essential to act with extreme caution regarding this. The notice further states that in case of any emergency, assistance from local disaster management officials should be sought without delay.
