The murder of Nimal Kosgolla, owner of 'Mount View Guest', is a mystery

A tragic story emerged on the night of the 20th, reporting the extremely sad end of a businessman's life within the very premises of the beautiful hotel he built in Trincomalee with money earned from working for about eight years in South Korea. He, the owner of the 'Mount View Guest' hotel located in the Hatarakanuwa area of Sinhapura, Trincomalee, was found with his throat slit, murdered by an unknown group, near a cabana belonging to the hotel.

The person thus murdered is an unmarried individual named W.K. Nimal Kosgolla, who was fifty-four years old. Police state that he, a permanent resident of the Kandy area, built and operated this hotel after returning from his job in Korea, and was residing in one of its rooms.

Information regarding this brutal murder came to light during an inquiry initiated by a cousin of the murdered businessman, who lives not far from the hotel, due to suspicions she harbored. On the night of the 20th, she went to the room where he was staying to check on him and noticed several bloodstains there. Alarmed by this, she further inspected the hotel premises and saw her cousin lying near a cabana on the hotel grounds, with his throat slit, murdered. She immediately informed the police.

According to the police, this murder was carried out in an extremely brutal manner, with the businessman's throat cut so deeply that it was almost severed.

So far, the police have not received any information regarding the motive for murdering this wealthy businessman or the identity of the killers. Immediately after the incident was reported, a team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Trincomalee Headquarters Police arrived at the scene and commenced investigations.

Currently, a comprehensive investigation is underway under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Mahinda Dissanayake, who is in charge of the Trincomalee District. Under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police Pushpa Kumara, who is in charge of the Trincomalee Division, and Senior Superintendent of Police (1) Prasanna de Silva of Trincomalee, a team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Trincomalee Headquarters Police, along with a team of officers from the Trincomalee Divisional Special Crime Investigation Bureau, are jointly conducting further investigations to apprehend the killers and bring them to justice.
