The Colombo Crimes Division informed Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama on the 2nd of last month that a large number of crucial evidence has been revealed through the telephone conversations of suspects Ishara Sewwandi and Mandinu Padmasiri Perera alias Kehelbaddara Padme, who is considered a member of an underworld gang, in connection with the murder of Sanjeewa of Ganemulla.
After subjecting the telephone voice recordings of these two suspects to a forensic examination by the Government Analyst, information has been revealed regarding their plans before the murder as well as their behavioral patterns after the murder. With the aim of further confirming these facts, the Colombo Crimes Division has requested the court for permission to refer Ishara Sewwandi and Kehelbaddara Padme for a voice test by the Government Analyst.
These facts were presented when the case against 45 suspects related to the murder of Sanjeewa of Ganemulla was called in the dock of the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court. Only one female suspect appeared directly in court, while other suspects, including Kehelbaddara Padme, were connected to the court via Zoom technology. The Chief Magistrate, after considering the presented facts, granted permission to refer the two relevant suspects to the Government Analyst for a voice test, and ordered their further remand until the upcoming 16th, and to report the progress of the investigation to the court on that day.
