74-year-old injured in Ahungalla shooting

A person was injured and hospitalized due to a shooting carried out by an unknown gunman operating in the Ahungalla, Galwehera area today (04) early morning. Ahungalla Police stated that C.P. in the Galwehera area.

Dadalla Lanu Modarage Nandasena, a 74-year-old resident of de Silva Mawatha, was subjected to this attack.

Security forces suspect that this shooting occurred between 1:55 AM and 2:00 AM. The homeowner was injured by a gunshot fired into the house through a window, and preliminary police investigations have revealed that a 9mm pistol was used for the attack.

It is also noteworthy that this is the second shooting incident reported from the Ahungalla area within a short period of four days. On the night of October 01st, an unknown gunman who came to a house in the Welikanda area of Ahungalla shot and killed a person named 'Ahungalle Podi Pati' with a pistol.

Police strongly suspect that this shooting, which occurred early this morning, could be an extension of the Podi Pati murder incident that took place a few days ago, or an act of retaliation against it. However, no suspects connected to either of these shootings have been identified yet, and Ahungalla Police have already launched a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend the gunmen involved.
