Trump announces he was in favor of deploying American troops to Greenland

US President Donald Trump has officially announced that a new agreement has been reached to expand the American military presence in Greenland, an autonomous region belonging to Denmark. Through this agreement, the President confirms that the United States will have permanent control over Greenland's security.

President Trump stated that this special agreement was reached with Denmark and Greenlandic authorities by posting a note on the 'Truth Social' social media network. He mentioned that having permanent control over all needs, including Greenland's security, has resolved many security issues faced by America, and that the United States will forever have the ability to take any necessary action within Greenland for the safety of both countries.

The President also stated that large-scale military base construction would begin immediately in suitable areas of Greenland. He further pointed out that no hostile force would henceforth be allowed to establish military bases, station troops, or invest in sensitive areas within Greenland without America's prior written approval.

Meanwhile, Denmark has announced that this agreement is scheduled to be officially signed next week. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has confirmed in a statement that this tripartite security agreement between the United States, Denmark, and Greenland will be signed to strengthen security in the Arctic and North Atlantic regions, as reported by AFP news agency.

Since last year, President Trump had argued that Greenland should be annexed by the United States for American security reasons. He had pointed out that if a party like Russia or China gained control of Greenland, it would pose a severe threat to America's air and maritime security, and that Denmark lacked sufficient capability to prevent it.
