Priyankara's final rites, who is in his final sleep wearing his usual head covering, will be held tomorrow (03) (video)

The final rites of the late veteran singer and actor Mr. Priyankara Perera are scheduled to be held tomorrow (03). Mr. Perera, who had been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital due to a prolonged illness, passed away last night (01) at the age of 64.

Arrangements have been made to place his remains at a private funeral parlor in Borella from this afternoon for public respect.

Mr. Priyankara Perera, the eldest son of the late veteran singer Mr. Milton Perera, is also the brother of singer Chalaka Chamupathi. His wife is the popular actress Dilhani Ashokamala. Entering the field with the musical legacy inherited from his father, he became a popular singer who was widely embraced by local fans, especially during the cassette era of the 80s and 90s.

Mr. Perera, who gifted many extremely popular songs such as 'Ran Pokunen Diya Naagena Enne', 'Sihina Dewduwe', 'Pissu Vikare', 'Aghadha Sagaraye', 'Samana Wee Ipadee Divi Thalawe' and 'Pera Athmayaka Eka Rathriyaka' to the music industry with his melodious voice, was not limited to singing. He later won the love of audiences as an actor in films and teledramas.
