Danoj from Mahawa is this year's 5th Grade Scholarship topper.

W.B.M. Danoj Thikshana Weerasekara, a student of Mahawa Ehethuwewa Model Primary School, has succeeded in securing the first place in the island by obtaining 193 marks in the 2026 Grade Five Scholarship Examination.

Danoj, who resides in the difficult village named Mahameruwa adjacent to Ehethuwewa, claims the highest marks recorded in this year's Scholarship Examination.

Commenting on his outstanding achievement, Danoj Thikshana states that he faced the examination very lightly and joyfully, completing the day's academic tasks given by the class teacher and other school teachers on the same day. He also mentions that the guidance of the principal and the teaching staff, as well as the dedication of his father who provided him with all necessary facilities without any shortcomings, were major strengths for this victory. Furthermore, he says that he received great support for his studies from his elder sister, who also passed the Scholarship Examination with high marks from the same school and is currently studying for her Advanced Level at Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya. "I had great confidence that I would get the highest marks in this exam. I prepared for the exam joyfully, finishing the work given by the teacher on the very same day. The teachers and the principal of the school helped me a lot.

Not only that, my sister, who passed the Scholarship Examination with high marks from our very own school and is now studying for her Advanced Level at Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, and my father were a great help to me in achieving these marks."

Danoj Thikshana's main aspiration is to gain admission to a leading popular school in the country, pursue his education, and become a skilled engineer in the future.
