Grade 5 Scholarship results released - First place from Kurunegala with 193 marks - Cut-off mark 139

The results of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination 2026, held on August 9, were released on September 02, with 56,000 students successfully surpassing the cut-off mark of 139 this year. Holding a special press conference, Commissioner General of Examinations A.K.S.

Ms. Indika Kumari Liyanage stated that the highest mark in the Sinhala medium, 193, was reported from the Kurunegala District, and the highest mark in the Tamil medium, 188, was reported from the Jaffna District.

A total of 294,132 applicants registered for this year's scholarship examination, with 289,867 appearing for the test. 1,018 children with special needs faced the examination this year, and among them, 18 candidates answered the examination in Braille medium.

Cut-off marks have been determined based on the district, the relevant medium, and the total marks obtained, and accordingly, 20,000 scholarships are to be awarded. This number of scholarships includes 250 scholarships reserved for students with special needs, and a special note regarding this is included in the mark sheets of children qualifying under that category.

Candidates have been provided with facilities to check their results and download and print result sheets through the official Department of Examinations websites www.doenets.lk and www.results.exams.gov.lk by entering their correct examination number.

School principals have the ability to print result documents relevant to their schools by using their respective usernames and passwords via the onlineexams.gov.lk/eic website. After the re-scrutiny appeal process of the examination is completed, steps will be taken to send the students' personal certificates to the respective schools via post.
