Pinnawala individual who assaulted children arrested

A 26-year-old individual has been arrested by the Pinnawala Police in connection with the incident of brutally assaulting two young children, which was related to an inhumane video circulating on social media. This suspect, a resident of Pinnawala area in Balangoda, was taken into police custody on the night of August 19.

The suspect had video-recorded the scenes while assaulting a four-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy. As these video clips circulated on social media, strong public outrage emerged, and based on the information received, the police promptly initiated investigations and proceeded to arrest the suspect.

The two young children who were assaulted have been admitted to Balangoda Hospital for medical examinations. Pinnawala Police are conducting further investigations to uncover the background related to the incident and to take future legal action against the suspect.
