Operation to rescue an SLTB bus caught in a strong current at Ambagamuwa

Amidst heavy rainfall in the Nawalapitiya area, the Ambegamu Oya overflowed, leading to a CTB bus and its passengers being caught in a strong current in the Ambegamuwa area on the Ginigathhena - Nawalapitiya main road. A group of young people from the area successfully rescued them.

Due to heavy rains that lashed the area on the afternoon of the 3rd, the Ambegamu Oya overflowed, completely submerging the main road connecting Ginigathhena and Nawalapitiya. At that time, a CTB bus traveling from Ginigathhena to Nawalapitiya, along with its passengers, was caught in the strong current and met with an accident.

Upon seeing the bus in distress, a group of young people from the Ambegamuwa area immediately sprang into action, despite the severe risk to their lives. They drove a lorry right up to the bus and safely rescued the passengers who were trapped inside.

After rescuing the passengers, the group of young people also managed to pull the CTB bus, which was caught in the strong current, out of danger with the help of a cab.
