Necessary steps will be taken to conduct the 5th Grade Scholarship and Advanced Level examinations without interruption.

All organizational arrangements have been made to successfully conduct and conclude the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, which will be held island-wide today (9), and the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, which will commence on August 10, without any hindrance. Commissioner General of Examinations, Mrs. Indika Kumari Liyanage, stated that steps have been taken to manage potential impacts from adverse weather conditions, following a special discussion held jointly by the Department of Meteorology, the Disaster Management Centre, and the Department of Examinations.

Furthermore, boats and disaster response teams have been prepared for use in case of an emergency such as a flood, and a special unit dedicated to this purpose is also operational within the Disaster Management Centre's operations room.

This year, 294,089 students are facing the Grade Five Scholarship Examination, which is being held at 2,723 centers island-wide. Of these, 220,366 have registered in the Sinhala medium and 73,723 in the Tamil medium. In this year's Scholarship Examination, the second question paper will be given first, and it will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM. After a short break, the first question paper will be allocated one hour, from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM. The examination numbers of the children appearing for the exam have been forwarded to the respective principals, and parents are not permitted to enter the examination center premises.

A total of 372,310 applicants are expected to appear for the Advanced Level Examination, which will be held at 2,532 centers island-wide from August 10 to September 05. This includes 264,496 school applicants and 107,814 private applicants. Admission cards for school students have been mailed to their principals, and for private applicants, to their personal addresses. Applicants who have misplaced their admission cards have the facility to re-download them via the official website of the Department of Examinations.

It is mandatory to have the signature on the admission card properly certified before entering the examination hall. Only a National Identity Card, a valid driving license, or a passport will be accepted to confirm the identity of candidates. For those without a National Identity Card, a temporary identity document prepared using postal identity card photographs must be certified by the principal for school applicants and by the Grama Niladhari (village officer) for private applicants. Authorities emphasize that all examination candidates must adhere to examination rules and regulations, as the results of many students had to be suspended in previous years due to examination fraud.

According to the instructions of the Department of Examinations, all applicants must arrive at the centers one hour before the examination begins, carefully read the instructions on the question paper, correctly write their examination number, and provide answers in clear handwriting on the question paper itself. Bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, and other electronic devices or notes into the examination hall is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, tuition classes related to the examinations concluded at midnight on August 05, and promotional activities through print or electronic media are also prohibited until the examinations conclude.
