Making Sri Lanka an Australia - Handunnetti

Addressing the 'Sri Lankan Entrepreneurs’ Night 2026' entrepreneurship conference organized on the 15th, Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Sunil Handunnetti, stated that steps would be taken to establish the freedom, justice, and rule of law currently enjoyed by Sri Lankans in Australia, in Sri Lanka as well, within a short period.

The Minister pointed out that Sri Lankans have arrived in Australia with the expectation of business opportunities or a better standard of living, and assured the assembly that, respecting the trust and mandate placed in the government by over 18 million people in this country, a beautiful nation would be built where future generations can receive education freely and live in a fair and just environment.

Further commenting, the Minister stated:

"You might have come to Australia for educational purposes. Perhaps for business. Or perhaps for a free, independent, and law-abiding country to live in. I give one assurance today. According to the mandate given to us by over 18 million Sri Lankans, including yourselves, in the very near future, we will transform our motherland into a beautiful country, just like Australia, where future generations can receive education freely, live freely, and where justice prevails, and the law is applied fairly to everyone, similar to the country you hoped to live in when you came to Australia."
