Horana thief who dismantles three-wheeler parts to do drugs

A person known by the alias 'Dihenagama Binduwa,' suspected of breaking into cabins of vehicles, including three-wheelers, parked in Horana town and stealing money and mobile phones with the aim of finding money for his drug addiction, has been arrested by the Horana Headquarters Police.




Based on several complaints received regarding the disappearance of valuable items and money from vehicles parked at various locations in Horana town, the police had launched a wide-ranging investigation. Following extensive investigations, including examining security camera footage from the crime scenes, police officers were able to identify and arrest the suspect.

The suspect had taken a stolen mobile phone to a mobile phone repair shop in the Ilimba area to remove its security lock, but the shop refused to perform the task due to suspicion. Subsequent searches revealed that the suspect had pawned the mobile phone at a location in the Moratuwa area.




Further investigations into the arrested individual revealed that he is a previous offender who had been charged in 42 prior cases related to theft and drug offenses. It was further confirmed during investigations that he is heavily addicted to drugs and has been stealing approximately 4000 rupees daily to fund his drug habit.

The arrested suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Horana Magistrate's Court for further legal action.
