Former Sri Lanka cricketer Roshan Mahanama has responded to concerns regarding a conflict of interest that arose from his role as an advisor for the Dambulla Sixers team in the 2026 Lanka Premier League tournament, while simultaneously serving as a member of the Cricket Transformation Committee appointed to oversee the administrative affairs of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Roshan Mahanama clarified that he is not associated with the Dambulla Sixers team as a member of the Cricket Transformation Committee. Although various parties questioned his holding this position while working on the said committee, he pointed out that his membership in the relevant transformation committee was on a temporary basis. He also stated that he was not appointed to this position by any official appointment or election of any cricket federation.

Mr. Mahanama revealed that immediately upon receiving the letter of appointment from the Minister of Sports, he informed the Minister that he was already working with the Dambulla Sixers team, the Pakistan Super League, and the ILT10 tournaments. He further stated that he clarified in his reply letter that he was involved with those tournaments as an independent match referee and consultant.

Recalling that he began working with the Dambulla Sixers team in 2024, Mr. Roshan Mahanama further emphasized that this engagement predated his assumption of duties on the current Cricket Transformation Committee by a significant period.
