Mr. Suresh Sallay, the former head of the State Intelligence Service, who is currently under detention orders by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attack, has been admitted to a general ward at the Colombo National Hospital.

Due to his engagement in a hunger strike, completely refusing food and water during his period of detention, authorities took steps to hospitalize him in this manner around 8:15 PM on the 7th of last month.

Hospital sources further state that since Mr. Sallay continues to refuse food, doctors are administering treatment to him via saline. It is also reported that despite numerous requests from his wife, child, and lawyers to abandon his hunger strike and consume food, he has rejected all those requests.

Meanwhile, a group of officials from the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka visited the Colombo National Hospital yesterday (08) afternoon. There, the officials recorded a special statement from Mr. Suresh Sallay, who is hospitalized, regarding the incident.
